While waiting for my other paintings to dry enough to continue with them I ended up starting yet another one today - I must be experiencing some sort of purging need to paint after years glued to my computer monitor! This I based on an image of an old Ladakh lady from India and her people, making her young instead. It sort of feels to me a bit like a Robert McGinnis western painting for some reason. These tribespeople resemble native Americans more than they do our traditional image of Indian natives.
I'm amazed I got so much done today. It's got a fair bit more to add but I'm really happy with it.
Year!I can only imagine what you were feeling. After spending so much time far from a canvas I've got a lot to let out as well, lots of things stirring up in my head just crazy to came out.rsrs
This is great stuff man! You're really starting to get away from your 'typical barbarian' stuff the more you paint. I think you're right about the purge thing - personally I tend to keep 3 or 4 paintings on the go due to drying times. I would personally love to see a book of this stuff or at least an exhibition before you go stateside and we lose you.
Amazing really diggin' the colors and well the whole image is sooooo all tied together...and your right it looks very traditional in the native American tribes of North America. [link]
